The Paynesville Classic Boat Rally 2-3 Mar 2024

Postby WoodRay » 20 Jun 2023, 12:23

CAWPBA has been invited again to field some boats at this event in 2024. The format is much the same as last time i.e. static display with 2 on water runs on each day. With the early discussions I have had there looks to be a possibility of setting the course closer to the shore rather than being way out where we couldn't be seen or heard. I'll keep you all posted with updates. Thanks.

I'm interested in this. Is anyone else going?

I'm pretty sure I'll be there. Max Curtis has committed to going also. I'm sure more will as we get closer to the date.

I'll be there with a boat.... hopefully Nirvana. Given a top speed of low 20's mph, my demonstration will be as simple as getting to the course and back.

I'll confirm closer to the date, but Carol and I could well be starters.....especially now that Ronda is a goer

UPDATE 25/9/23
For those that have noticed, the PCBR website seems to be void of any info regarding on water time for the powerboats. I have asked the question and am waiting for a reply. I'll respond to you all as soon as I know. Thanks.

Thanks for following them up. IMO there is little genuine commitment to the powerboat segment for this event. Regrettably. Don't lose sight of the fact that this is being run by and at the Gippsland Lakes Yacht Club, at Paynesville.

Yep I never have Bob. I think we are the attraction that gets people there that might go and look at some stick and rag boats lol.

We have always been used up by the stick and rag mobs to get people to their events to give people something "exciting" to look at. Not all shows, to be fair, but most. We are often quarantined off somewhere out of the way when we do get a show. Hmm, sounds maybe like I'm just a grumpy old man.
