Top effort Dave - just shows that persistence does pay dividends. How sweet it is when it all comes together.

Well done dave. I still dream of getting a rear seater from one end to the other. Everything has to work perfectly.

Top shots by Nick also. Yes I did get swamped and did some submarining at the start.... but repaid the favour by overtaking him at Bar Point. :D

Congratulations once again Dave!! Your determination and persistence has paid off once again. Glad I was there to see you finish on Sunday. Have attached some photos which Ron Blomfield. It has taken me a while to get to this as grandson No. 2 Hugo Michael Wicks arrived on Monday at 6.30am and we have been looking after grandson No. 1 since then.

Congratulations Frank on your new grandchild. Thanks Ron for taking the pics. That shot of me was taken at the moment I spotted the pair of you on the bank. It felt good seeing you both there.
I still cant believe I finished. Yesterday I checked out the boat. I had less than a cup full of fuel in the rear tank (the one I sat on) and around 1/2 an inch in the bottom of the front. The motor now has low oil pressure. I very nearly didnt make it. Im still smiling though. Im more than happy to lose a motor this way. :D Dave

Belated Well done!
Great achievement, to get an old classic not just smoking for a couple of laps.
but for over 50mins is no mean feat.
Also I bet the Pagano racing teams expenditure is a tad less than most of the runners!
Again that was the essence of the sport before (in my opinion) it lost its way.

Darren. Are you saying I tight? My motor was donated by our president. Just keep it to yourself though. I thought I would run it in for him. ;)
I know that a couple of $50000 motors lay scattered along the river.

Come on its time to Fess up

It was actually a brand new Nascar crate engine that cost $US275,000
we sprayed it with salt water and Phosforic acid to give it some patena and throw everyone off the scent

Yep was great to see Frank and Ron waving on the bank when I came in... (even if I did ride in timber and tupperware this year). And thanks for photos you guys took. That's what a club like this is all about!!!

Looks like I retain the title for the B2B motor with the most "legs out of bed" for my 2008 effort.

After seeing where dave's motor came from, and convincing him last year that a change of oil might be a good idea... I thought he might have had a chance at taking the title from me... but no... a glorious finish instead.

PS. have added my mangled turn fin to the cabinet as this years offering to the gods of the river.
