This local newspaper clip was sent to me by Matt Williams.

Maybe you can make it. Matt's going.

Went to Nagambie today to see what sort of “Old Boat Show” they were putting on. Took Stormy for a static display. Matt Williams was also there and on the water with Eskimo. There wasn’t much new on offer, but what was there was WATERWITCH.

Built prior to 1921 by JJ Savage in Melbourne. Runs a 1928 A model Ford engine (with gearbox)

Purchased from original owner in 1943 and has been in Nagambie since.

This boat was just a time capsule and amazingly, I reckon it wouldn’t have taken much to get it going and back on the water again. I did note the last rego label on it was dated 1967, so maybe my estimate is ambitious.

Note the long tube on the left side of the engine compartment – it’s a bilge pump. Love the Savage steering quadrant and the timing advance/retard levers, not to mention the side mounted rack and pinion steering.

Also note the tow coupling. This sits horizontally and grips the ball from both sides. Easily released through cam action by moving the lever sideways.

I also love the fire extinguisher. Its an Old CTC pump action extinguisher
CTC= Carbon Tetra Chloride
They were probably more dangerous to the person trying to put out the fire than the fire itself. When the liquid was sprayed on a hot surface it changed to Chlorine gas which smothered the fire. Also gave the user a decent dose of Chlorine gas if one was in a confined/semi confined space or if you were down wind.
MMMM lets see OH&S deal with that lot!!!!!
