Top End Sprint
Well as usual I have left everything to the last minute but I have spent my time after work today remaking the damaged sponson for Atomic. I have fitted all the new stringers and repaired the frames. Hopefully tommorrow I will have it resheeted. I only have to freshen the engine after that and Im ready to roll. 1 week to go.

Re: Top End Sprint
Ive got the sponson all finished just having hell getting the alloy bottom made for it. Normally I would do it myself but the sheet metal shop I use closes before I get home from work. I asked them to do it for me with the supplied template. I think they gave the job to the apprentice as its been stuffed up twice. Try 20mm to small. My mate is going to the same shop tommorrow to do it for me.
I cant believe they could stuff it up

Re: Top End Sprint
yep dave im sure you know the saying that fits this situation
if you wont it done right, do it yaself
its frustrating that ya pay someone who is meant to " know " what they are doing and stuff it up twice.
so you will have it ready for the race dave???

Re: Top End Sprint
Atomics hull is all finished and back on the trailer. Got the new crankshaft in the motor but damaged one of the big end bearings when assembling. Ill buy some more tommorrow. Should have it running by the arvo.
We made an interesting discovery. My old crank was 40 thou undersize. For the Forster meet I put new bearings in. Tonight we found that the guys had sold me 30's. Its amazing the engine made any oil pressure at all.
One thing for sure it revved like crazy at Forster.

Thanks Frank.
Tested Atomic late this arvo. It was blowing like crazy and the water was real rough.
All went well with the boat hopefully it will be good tommorrow.
Classic Racing had a problem and did a full 360 at over 100mph. The driver was found lying on the deck when the crash boat got to him. Luckily he only got a sore shoulder. Its a shame because he dragged the boat all the way down from the Gold Coast.

Re: Top End Sprint
Well Atomic absolutely flew for 99% of the race. The last 1% ended with another rod out the side. Back to the drawing board.
Re: Top End Sprint
So prehaps an extra 10 thou clearence on the big ends aint bad ?
Sorry to hear.
