Tas Wooden Boat Festival

Postby fatpigeon » 06 Dec 2012, 19:07

For those considering coming to Hobart This event is huge and well worth a trip. Google Tasmanian wooden boat festival for the details. The timing also combines the Hobart Regatta and APBA racing is also on.

Chivs has been plugging this event on his Tas exp. post but in consultation with him I have posted seperately.

At this stage I have not entered any boat display because I can't committ to 4 days of logistics and time at the event, however Chivs has a water berth for Tomboy. There is also a pseudo historic power boat race on the monday which I still may enter a boat or two.

If anyway is coming down I can assist with accommodation , place to camp, transport, boat storage or whatever you may need so please ask it would be my pleasure. Im sure a few social events on and off the water will be arranged.

Once again this event is Huge and free. You will visit it everyday over the 4 days ! There is heaps on.

Stuart,
sounds great, finally think I will make it this time. At this stage not sure how but will be holding discussions with a friend in-law in Lawnceston over Christmas who is also keen.

Well done Stuart! 100% strike rate! That's two possibles and I am sure Scotty Botterill will turn up, just might not hear from him, or see him for that matter?

As a bit more of incentive you should offer those qualified to run one of the boats out of the Fat Pigeon Racing Team stable with spare prop of course!

Cheers

Update

The "classic race" is actually part of the Hobart Regatta . The race is directed towards old gentlemans racers (ie Chivs "Tomboy" ) Chris Crafts and the like. It will be more of a cruise than a race. The venue "the Derwent River" is too rough for anything I have unless there is no wind. I may be able to enter on the day if conditions allow.

A reminder about how busy Hobart is at event time, accommodation is expensive and hard to get and flights on and off our island the same. I know someone who knows someone if you need some assistance.

Carol and I have just completed booking flights and accomodation for Tassie...........we're in!! We had thought we might scream down in the Worry now that it's all reliable but have decided against it. In the meantime bring on Yarrawonga! WE HAVE WIGS.
