dee ka jay

Postby bauchy » 20 May 2009, 13:49

hey guys, a guy i know has picked up an old race boat that was part of the bendigo power boat club yet no one knows andthing about the boat.

its called dee-ka-jay , its little 16 footish bond wood that is believed to be have been built in the late 50's to early 60's.

its runs a 6 cyclinder plymouth and is great unrestored condition. the boat has not been in water for along time and prolly never will again because he doesnt wanna restore it. the boat is amazing to look at. it has been built with a steel dash out of a car, the whole dash area has been built around the steel dash and it fits perfect. it runs a car windscreen with cast brackets that realy suits the boat. appatrently the boat was raced early in the peice yet know one knows anything locally. if any one knows the name or anything on it the owner would love to know.

i'll get some pics up shortly to show the boat and im sure you guys will find it interesting

Brian, well tracked down. That is really special. Great to hear the owner is going to do the right thing by it, just as long as he doesn't lock it away. Are they new or original tyres?

yeh dave the owner has decided to not restore it. hes also decided he wont sell it to me... haha

greg, the tyres are original, the boat was last registered in 72 i think,

the boat will be put into storage for now untill he opens a museum with quiet a few other boats he has sitting around in peoples sheds. there is a chance the boat will be taken up to nerrandera which will be great, the guy and his family are walking boating gurus who are great to talk to. im sure he and everyone else will be happy to chat if i can get him to come up
