Ive spent the last two Saturdays back on this boat. I have replaced all the battens on the starboard side, plugged and redrilled all the worn out nail holes and replaced all the nails and roves on that side (around 500). Hopefully next weekend Ill get the other side done. There is still heaps to do mainly remove the cabin and stabilise it and put a new bottom on it.
Im planning on using all traditional methods so the boat hopefully be as close as possible to the way it was 81 years ago.

I cant wait to see this one floating again after all these years.

Yesterday I got the cabin off the hull. Without it it really looks like a racer. Dont worry its going back on.

Had a good afternoon yesterday on the boat. Almost finished the roving on the side. Once I have got this all done Ill roll it over and redo the bottom.

We have been making steady progress on the boat. Hopefully saturday should see all the roving done on the Port side.
Next ill pull the deck off and roll the boat over to do the bottom. Fingers crossed it will be done for Nerranderra.

Hi Brian. A mate gave me a heap of nails and roves. They can be bought. Ive heard the chinese ones are to hard and splits when you drive them on the nail.
Re the tool to drive the rove on I just made one. Basically get some solid round bar and drill a hole up the centre of it. Countersink the end to allow for the shape of the rove.
Other than that I use a pair of end cutters and a ball hammer.

I got all the roving finished today. Its really coming along nicely. Next job is to replace the transom planking and remove the deck. There is still a heap to do but at least a major milestone has been reached. Man it was a lot of work.
