I cant believe what is still out there also. The weird thing about this boat was it was at a well known workshop that specialises in wooden boat restoration. Heaps of people go through this place. To top it off the guy had been trying to sell it for over a month. It wasnt a sleeper at all just nobody wanted it. Like I said before a few experts said it was too far gone. Doesnt look bad at all to me. Ive fixed worse.

Just spoke to the Grandson today. Turns out this boat also won the Stuart Doyle Gold Cup. Ill have to find out a list of past winners to confirm this. Lucky it has a cabin as my straw hat would definetly blow off.
Im liking this boat more and more every day :D

Geez Dave you like the big projects. This will be a stunning boat when finished - what kind of time frame are you looking at?

Bob there is a vintage boat Regatta at Forster in July. A bit ambitious but Im aimimg for that. Ive got one side almost sanded out and ready for some fastenings. Ive got most of the ply off the deck and tonight I started striping the diagonal planking off the other side. Tommorrow I should have it all off. By the weekend all the hull should be sanded and I can start on the bottom and cabin. After next wednesday I wont have a licence for three months and therefore cant go to work (I need a break anyway) so Ill have heaps of time to get it done. Dave

I need some advice. If you look at the shot with my daughter in it you will see on the side of the hull some diagonal black marks. No matter what I do they wont sand out. Any ideas on how I can get rid of them? Im not keen on bleach.

Steam? Wet cloth & an iron? Works on gunstocks. Raises the grain enough to sand out any imperfections. Cheers. Nick.
