News years resolution
My new years resolution is too at least once in 2011 to actually use my boat once as this will be 100% increase than 2010. I have just given the motor a run and any ideas as to why the oil pressure would exceed 60psi at over 4000rpm. I gave it an oil change in november and it was doing the same thing before I dropped the oil out. It is a little over the top mark on the dip stick but only 4.5lt in the sump so I thought that it shouldn't make any difference. I had to refer back to a video I took when it was new and at 3500rpm the gauge was showing 40psi. If any one has any ideas it would be appreciated. Cheers Chris
Re: News years resolution
Have you changed the grade of oil, That can affect the oil pressure. As well as that oil will run at higher pressures when its cold. Take it for a run and see if the oil pressure drops back when the engine is hot.

Re: News years resolution
Thanks, I have put the same grade and make back in so that's ruled out. I will just have to take it to the coast and give it a decent run and see if that fixes itself. Will it do any damage with excess pressure?

Re: News years resolution
Chris,
60 is getting up there close to the limit for your spin on style filter, so give it a chance to warm before you see how high it will get.
Alan.

Chris
I run a holden 308 with a high volume oil pump and a spin on type filter and when its cold it will run up around 80 lb pressure.
