Classic chivs, love the Dig photos, what a crack up. Do you want me to bring that hat again next year?

Thanks Thommo, I am still laughing about all the stuff that went on, for example a classic quote from Ian the mad Irish Motor Cycle/wooden boat lover, the Hookster and I (ex motor cycle riders) were giving him some advice and war stories and stuff and he pipes up, "Yeah I know, but I don't see no F :o  :? ing C :o  t passing me!"
Glad you liked one of the Highlights Hookster, ole Dig eh!

Or as I called him Dirk Diggler! I'll bring my own fashion accessories next year Hooks, thanks.

Hey Dave looks like mine is bigger than yours :P

If I didn't know better .... this shot of Tomboy looks like a model boat in the pond. Chivs has successfully made something big, look small.

On closer inspection of the second Dig photo Chivs I noticed the mandatory ciggy  byt the way, I much prefer Neil's photographic collection to yours. Watch out next year is all I'm gonna say...the ante will be upped!

Chris, Hull looks great . What have you found so far under the paint ? How long did it take ?
What did you use to get it looking so nice . It does pay off to start with some thing in good condition, its the same with cars.

Ahoy there Ross!

Yeah it does look good, very happy and found now surprises, its very sound. Bit of rot under where the prop shaft skeg is bolted. Going to re build that but try something tricky and extend the old copper cavitation plate thats fitted to protect the hull with stainless to extend to the skeg and re-manufacture a new skeg to fit onto the plate. The hope it to stengthen this whole area, so that when its up and going (and floating!) I can give it to her to try and keep up with you :P

The stripping was just elbow grease with a heat gun. I tried a couple of paint strippers but there was so many varnish coats, it took at least two applications and many scraps with the scapper. The heat gun was much better and made the job easy.

Re your query earlier about Lewis colour, when I sanded it off you could see the red oxide in stain, it was obviously very effective, I too hope to replicate the colour!

Hope all good Ross, best regards, Chris.

Looking great Chris. Glad that it's gone to a good home and even more glad to see that you are getting it restored after sitting untouched in my shed for so long. Keep at it and don't be distracted by that windscreen with a boat under it in Adelaide.

Bob
