The boats look fantastic, I should make an effort to go next time. Macca was talking about Goolwa on Sunday and it is well worth a look for those lucky enough to live in SA. Cheers Chris

Yep, I made it to the Hobart wooden boat festival..........xmas present from the loverly missus. Had a great time, and as Chris mentioned in his previous post, we caught up with him. He showed us great hospitality and and even though he didn't wear his chauffeur hat that the Manly joy rides skippers used to wear, he did as good a job by taking us for a great cruise around the harbour, including narrative on the history and the landmarks........fantastic.
Chris is also a great advocate for the club, as seen by the pics. (if i can figure out how to post them up.)
Again Chris thanks from Mandie and I for the hospitality.
cheers Peter G

Thanks for the feedback boys! Would of been great if more members came, same hospitality to all as Peter G mentions, only too glad to oblige.

As mentioned I went to the wooden boat rally in Launceston, only one new boat on display I am sure all will be interested in. Will also add some other shots of the same boats in a different location.

I am not sure if you can improve the information board photo giving the details of this off shore racer? It was built around 1968 to compete in the Cowes Torquay offshore race, Britains premier offshore race. Its 25 foot long and about 6' 3 or so wide with a super charged 7 litre Chev V8. The semi surfacing prop and rudder were very inovative for the era and it won the race averaging a speed of 38 mph over 6 hours. Apparently the weather was rough and half the participants either retired or sunk!
It was fully restored in 200? and some Auction house put it up for Auction and a Tasmanian guy bought it and it was shipped from Europe to Tasy. It has not been re-launched since restoration? Hows that for memory, if you can't improve the board photo and would like to know what it actually says, let me know and I will write them down as the board has it recorded.

Another photo of Telstar, not raining Sunday so the covers are off. Another inovation was that the driver and navigatior stood in tandem, no seating, hard work after a six hour slog, no doubt!

You may remember Mistral from the Hobart Festival, its still for sale and it floats this time, unfortunately I did not see it go but I was told the trim tabs on the transom are to help keep the bow down!

Fleetwood was there too, and happy to take interested parties for a run, despite the weather on Saturday.

Doesn't quite fit in the club's site, however I am sure you might be interested in the woodwork and engineering? Further the owner (Bruce Jessup) met Dave Pagano a few years ago in NSW, so I thought Dave might like to see what he has been playing around with?

How many seagulls can fit on a boats deck? Tried to sneak up on the boat to take an arty shot of the mass of seagulls on this boat, didn't see the bloody owls who must of said, "Who, Who is coming toward us?" Most of them heard and flew off as I got closer. Obviously the Owl is best mate of the seagull?
