Taurus

Postby rayza1 » 07 Nov 2010, 22:06

Hi guys, just to let all and sundry know i became the proud owner of TAURUS today, thanks Ian. We made it home in one piece, wheel bearings held up ok although ear plugs would have been of value. Any info will be of great value

Thanks guys, yeah i'm afraid i'm addicted now. Going to do my best to do a faithful restoration on this one, unlike the WORRY this one has history and a pedigree. Not going to rush it so if it takes a couple of years i'm cool with that. cheers Ray

hey ray, they are worth taking the time on . make sure you keep your motivation up and make a written plan. stick to the plan and it will get done.

I know bugger all about the history of most boats so whats the story with taurus? its great to know the history as well as see the build. you should start a build thread so we can see what is happening and how you go about things.
next time im down your way i'll drop past and have a look. also let me know if ya head up torrumbary and i'll catch up with ya. i'll be up that way this weekend skiing if ya about.

Hi Brian, from what i got from talking to Ian about Taurus, she came from Jerilderie and was a racer Has twin fuel tanks, one either side and an offset steering setup, sort of angled towards the centre. From what i understand she ran a 272 y block and raced in or around Jerildarie. Currently has a 179 driving off a modified bell housing, different to anything i've seen before. Will be in Torrumbarry Sunday afternoon but wont have my boat, just dropping my van back this time. Hope to have the boat up there in the next few weeks. It's purring like a kitten now. cya

Guys,
make sure you give us a water report I hear the level is quite high. Might have to go have a look myself to make sure the grass is not under water.
Alan.

Hi Alan, will post water report when i get back monday (gotta love 4 day weekends) I'm hoping it's not too high as well, my caravan doesn't float too well and we're looking at 50mm plus over the weekend. cheers Ray
