Boat insurance

Postby Greg » 30 Oct 2021, 10:01

This old nut is creating problems again.
Can anyone recommend an insurance company that doesn't want a professional assessment, marine survey, etc?

The only time I have been asked for a survey was when I mentioned it had been "restored" so watch what you say :D

Hear what you say Al. What I did ask for was for the insurance value to be increased.

I could get insurance on Nirvana while it was stored pending restoration but during the resto they won't insure it. When restored I need a survey to get insurance again. I'm with Nautilus Marine. No survey required for Turbo Fire....

This is for Nova Bob. It was insured under Nautilus for storage/restoration. Now that I want to increase the cover, they (Nautilus) want me to get a written valuation. Just wondering who does those. Probably have to have a survey done to get an valuation.

Aren't "we" the experts on these types of boats? I went through this before as well, and It seems silly to ask someone who knows little about our particular craft for an opinion on value

Loaded question, this one. Were we approached some time ago to be evaluators/valuators of these types of boats?

Maybe Nankervis could do the report? But I agree with Raymondo.... the real experts are our members.
