The following Article may surprise many Followers who for Years have subscribed to the belief that "Bondwood Boats" have never really been competitive against the Classic Australian Clinker Design.
( Does anyone have more knowledge on the Boat and Driver mentioned ? )

Well it was Waggott powered after all! I wonder what the weight difference would have been between Screaming Eagle and WagOn?
I was only talking to Ian Harvey a couple of weeks ago. At that stage I think Screaming Eagle then was powered with a crossflow Grey.
I'd imagine the Seacraft would be a bloody hard ride in the rough stuff.

Great post!

Correct , Winton built Eagle11 had the Repco Head and semi-surfacing Prop. Not sure how heavy the Skiff was but was lighter than than Eagle 111 .

Waggott Headed Engine probably around 195/205 Horsepower.

Yes Ian did mention the surfacing prop that hung out past the transom as well as not running a cav plate. It was a wild and dangerous ride until they stumbled on another prop that sorted it. Pulling the bungs was another issue which badly caught out another driver. He went on anyway in the race until it crashed. The ambos couldn't work out where the blood was coming from until he pointed out his cut hand from the prop!
It was a great chat I have to say.
