Trimmed up & sanded the bridge deck... also glued in the rest of the bungs. I'll wait a day or so for the epoxy to harden up before I trim the bungs & sand the deck.

Man, I'm rooted after a full day on the deck knocking off the top of the bungs with a Chisel, planing down further with the block plane then long board sanding 120 grit by hand. Front of boat from bridge deck to the bow is done & has come up well. Aft half awaits tomorrow, assuming the body is ready to go again.... LOL.

Great work Bob. Really starting to take shape now. Lucky it's not a 30 footer.

Any time Ross- if you give some advance notice I'll be able to vacuum the carpet in the shed. Those nasty oil stains are beginning to fade, thankfully. lol

Had the day off yesterday to catch up on some home garden maintenance and then only had time for a few hours in the lobgboard this morning. Deck is almost completely longboard sanded at120 grit... 1 hour or so of work to go. Then it's time to work down through the grits to 320 & ready for the stain.

Great stuff Bob. I don't envy all the sanding though.

Thanks mate... while sanding I thought of all the benefits of using ply but then thought about the half mm veneer thickness.

Latest update.... deck finally faired & sanded with the pin prick holes spot filled with clear epoxy, then sanded again. Cover boards trimmed around the gunwales for final shape and then masked off for the dark walnut stain. Not sure that it's dark enough, but it is what it is. Tomorrow I'll stain the deck & transom with mahogany stain (go figure... mahongany stain on mahogany timber) and then fingers crossed, get the first coat of varnish on.
