Craig Allardyce was in my shop yesterday and generously gave his time and knowledge to strip down and assess my Chris Craft Model B engine. The outcome was pretty good. Cylinders need a 20 thou bore, new pistons, crank needs a touch up then just bearings & rings. All things considered a good outcome. Now to clean everything, source parts from the US and get some machine done. Very much appreciate Craig's expertise- I'm out of my depth with the engine.

Nothing much to show but plenty happening. Prop shaft & props are out being assessed or replaced, block & exhaust manifold have been tanked, crank is with grinding man, engine parts from five different vendors in the US are currently en route to the freight consolidator. Biggest problem has been sourcing a set of main bearings. Meanwhile back in the shop I'm gradually working through parts cleaning crud & grease off the stripped down engine and sourcing new bolts etc replacing crappy old stuff.

Early model Ford will do it for me. The purists might have an issue but they can go suck a lemon.

Block & manifold are back from tanking. Castings are very rough, but then they were built with different, old technology.

Still chipping away, but frustrated that there is no sign of the last of my engine parts, (being main bearings) are ready to ship to me. Also waiting on the upholstery swatches from the US so I can match locally. Arrgh! While waiting I've been cleaning engine parts with the wire brush and priming. Got the first look today at the final colour, early Ford blue on the cylinder head and exhaust manifold. It's bloody blue! Also machined up and primed the trailer bearers ready for my son Ross to make the trailer mods (steel work at which I'm no good) so that the hull sits properly on the trailer.

Looks great Bob. You're getting ahead of the game doing it that way.

More spraying today. Tomorrow it's time to start cleaning the really dirty, oily, greasy stuff.
