A little more progress today. Fitted the storage bin to the front seat and 75% completed the one for the rear seat. This old Chris Craft had zero storage on board. Maybe back in the 1940's they didn't have mobile phones, sunscreen, sunnies etc.? So I've taken licence in the name of practicality and built a hinged storage bin under each of the seats. Just need to make and fit the lid for the second one and then the woodwork for the seating area is finished and can be all removed for varnishing and bilge paint as appropriate. Then it's engine time.

Nice work Bob. I'll have to come up again for a sticky and a chat. How did you go with the steering box and linkage bits?

Great idea Bob and very nicely done. Had plans to do the same with Nova, but never actually did it. From memory, it's marked out and pretty much ready to cut once the seats are back out, which is a job on its own. Must go and have a look.

Hey Craig - you're always welcome for a chat and a coffee (& cake). I dropped over to see Max. The steering box is a Model A Ford variety but the drag link is bigger than the one used in the car. I've got more homework to do. And Greg.... don't be slack... get out there and put in the storage bin.

Apologies for the silence over recent months. I've been distracted by higher priorities such as a couple of ventures out in the caravan, essential maintenance work on the apartment after a minor flood in the kitchen, new flooring at the apartment & then skirting and finally a workshop injury... drop-saw into the back of my hand. Very, very fortunately no lasting damage for which I am grateful ... and lesson learnt about workshop safety. Having said all that, I do have my original ChrisCraft gauges back from refurbishment in the USA ($$$) and I also have the new fuel tank built, ready to install. Roll on 2023 and of course, Merry Christmas to everyone.

Jeez Bob! Nicely done. I count 13 stitches. Is 13 an unlucky number?
Good to hear you've been taking it easy over recent weeks.

After quite some months of being distracted by some caravanning, chopped up hand and essential maintenance work around home, I'm back onto Nirvana. I'm sticking to a daily schedule of varnishing the various boards which go into the cockpit. I've done three coats on the back (unseen side) of each board and now three coats on the face. I'm thinking 8 coats might do the job.
