This is the biggest Skiff built by LEWIS Bros . Almost 20 ft and was powered by an SOHC Ford ,Turbo charged and Injected . It was owned and driven by Clem King under the Banner of the Glenmaggie Boat Club.

Thanks for posting this. It is definately the only 20ft skiff ever built by Lewis. After talking to Ron Johnson, he confirmed that he and Frank built Carol Lee for Clem in 1970. As you all probably know, it is now named "Raider" after Ken Warby purchased it and shipped it to America. Ian Dobbie and i purchased it from Ken in 2013, and i am currently restoring her with the vision of running her at vintage events here in the future. I am totally lost as to what happened to it after Clem retired it (what year?), and what happened to it between Clem and Warby purchasing it??? Was it in storage all those years, and who owned it then??? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!! Cheers, Coddo.

I know Bob Carol bought it and had Graham Howard do some work on it.
I saw pics of it in a shed in Victoria somewhere but the guy wouldn't let on where it was. I've lost track of him now.

Coddo , The Skiff was owned by Clem King and was stored in his Shed in Traralgon in Victoria until it was sold to a buyer in the early 2000,s.

Clem ran a Second place in the 1973 Griffith Cup Final only Stampede outlasted to finished ahead of him. Many other top competitors were distanced in the final This was with the injected engine fitted.

Due to a change in his personal and Business life Clem did not race again after the early part of the 1975 Season. He had the view of returning to the Circuit but interests changed. This Hull had limited water time during Clems ownership as it had been set up for the major Events only , not Club Events.
Clem also had a strong interest in Water Ski activities and Kiting behind his Lewis Runabout.

The Engines were sold in the 1990,s and I believe at least one went to Queensland. There were separate Injected and Turbo charged units with spare bottom ends. This picture is of Clem about to pick up the Start boat for the 1973 Griffith Cup.

Thanks Woody. A lot of my missing bits of it's history now being filled in. I wonder how long did Bob Carrol own it, and did he ever actually run it??
