Finished off dry exhaust today and rework of cav plate stays.
Managed a test run this arvo and had to wind back mixtures a long way to get it to rev past 3 grand. Engine is now clean revving throughout the range.
Dropped the Cav plate 1/4" and now I have a porpoise free boat. I think weight reduction with the seat and exhaust system has helped a lot. I now have a good platform to work with regarding horsepower and speed increases in the future. I was worried I'd be stuck with a porpoising monster unless I was running in whitecaps. Overall a good win. Very very pleased.

I aptly call this "smoke on the water"
Some tuning and testing with the help of Ross.

Some prop testing today. Unfinished prop is marked as a 10 x 8. Finished prop is 9 1/4 dia with slightly more pitch and cup on trailing edge, but with less blade area and diameter.
The results were not what I thought. Anyone guess the outcome?

2000 Rpm difference in blades. It was the larger blade that allowed revs to 6000 but 3 mph slower. The trailing edge cup and slightly larger amount pitch over all makes a huge difference on the small blade.

A great weekend at Paynesville capped off by making contact with the grandson/son of the first owners Ces & Ron Looney.
Looks like a trip to Wollongong.
Terry sent this pic of them both in Flamingo which was purchased after Thunda Babe.
