Only 75hp? I thought rule of thumb for a warm engine was 1 hp per cu in.

75Hp is the standard figure Bob. 1Hp per cube in a grey is a fair bit more than warm. That's nearly a 100% increase.

I didn't know that the grey was such a low hp engine. My stock FF engine put out 100 hp from 1600 CC. Guess time & technology changes.

The Kent did come out much later and with crossflow but don't think it had much over 60hp from the factory

I recall our guys raving if they got 100hp on the dyno. Interesting article here on the Kent FF engine. http://www.thekentlives.com/index.php/t ... e/history/

I guess it would seem that way. I've never been a fan of using hp figures to describe an output of an engine without including it's torque curve. As I read somewhere back "Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you."
I'm figuring the FF would of being doing somewhere around 7500/8000rpm for that 100hp output. Now halve that rpm and you halve the hp, and that's where the grey is at. At 8000rpm the grey would be 150hp...........if it didn't explode first.
What was the torque output of your FF engine Bob?
