Cleaning up the keel now and assessing the damage.

Bit of work there Craig. Keel looks okay, ribs split and cracked, elongated nails too? So hard to know where to keep vs where to replace. Who was it that said, it's not a race?

Just some progress pics again. Now getting ready to finish shaping the ribs and then steam bending.

Ribs done on router. Now for some sanding and stem bending.

It's been slow going with this project. One good day and then a few bad ones after having some procedures done on my back and neck a few weeks ago. A visit by Ross and Ken Rowley yesterday to chat about anything is always a big help and very much appreciated. I'm now about half way with sanding all the ribs. Next job is to decide on the steamer arrangement and build a jig for my router so I can cut the scarf in the keel.

Knocked up a jig for scaring the keel. Did a test run on the stuffed section at it seems to work OK. Hope to do the keel tomorrow.

Looking good Craig. Having some space around the keel to work is a big bonus. Look forward to seeing how it all comes together. Good luck.

Thanks Bob. The scarf came up ok. It fits up to the test piece well. Ross reckons the timber is Merbau, of which is readily available in the size I need by the looks of it. I've made a start on getting the steamer done so hopefully that will start soon.
