Well after a forced period of absence I've managed to get some time back on the skiff today. As I'm going to new beehive valve springs I've had to rework the head for bigger installed heights for the springs, and due to also going to a larger camshaft with higher lift and duration. I had to buy the spring seat cutting tool from USA due to the less than common valve guide sizes in this crossflow head. Final fit up will be done with spring wear and locating seats which will also be used to set the final height. I've had to make these spring seats as well.
I'm also happy to report the block has been tunnel bored for the new steel main caps and machined to accept the new one piece split rear main seal in leu of the old rope seal.
Only two major hurdles to get over now with the limited space allowable to fit in a suitable drive for the gearbox, and adapting the new crankshaft vibration damper to the snout incorporating the new alloy timing cover.

Getting a few things done in between other jobs this last couple of weeks. Have finished flood testing the new rear seal with good results and finally finished cutting the inlet valve spring seats so I can get the correct full lift travel needed for the new cam without going into coil bind.

Another step closer. I've finally finished converting the gearbox input shaft to spline drive rather than the original parallel shaft.

Geewhiz Craig, there's a whole happening here.
Is there a significant"step up" in the Vdrive?
and that engine.....Amazing Work!

I simply won't have the room to fit in a parallel shaft coupling between the gearbox and flywheel. Going to spline drive will allow me to run a thin damper plate style drive similar to a velvet drive arrangement. I'm actually going to use the centre out of a clutch plate.

It's a 9% gear ratio at the moment. The gear set is a Winters quick change arrangement and I can set it up to over or under drive if needed. There are lots of ratios available.

Thanks - sounds like a great plan.
