Patent office lol. More like I'm going to get done for copyright infringement or some other law/regulation.

Great outcome, well done. The ends of the scarf look to be square so that's a good sign.

Set up the bench today for bending the ribs. I made the blocks adjustable by offsetting the screw so they can move like an offset cam. Hopefully I should be able to bend a group of ribs with the allowable adjustment for each different arc.
Steamer work tomorrow.

Steam bending failure no1. PVC looses it's shape a lot when it gets to 80 degrees. I've now built another steamer. It's good to work on steel for a change. ;)
Tried bending my first rib and it cracked, oddly enough, exactly where the original one was cracked. I'm now thinking about plan c.

Well after yesterdays fails I've done some MORE research and changed a few things. I've now had some success doing trial bends way tighter than I would need. I scrapped the adjustable blocks for the form and will make a start on building proper forms.

Is this the normal way of doing ribs ,i had the impression the planks were fitted the the ribs were fitted later.I have notised small nails in the ribs which i thought held them in place until they were nailed and roved .

I don't know Ken. It could be right or wrong, but it is a repair job with the deck still on so it has it's challenges. All I'm doing is being conscious of maintaining the shape of the hull. My next step is to complete the keel repairs. I'm just making the ribs in the meantime. Once the keel is done I will start on fitting the two closest planks to the keel. I want to leave at least one plank off so I have easier access for riveting. i.e. remove one and refit a new one leaving a one plank gap. The top plank will stay until I need to replace the deck way down the track.

Yesterday I finished the "new" form for bending the ribs.

I assume you're making them all the same for final adjustment when fitting?

The Builder I watched the most fitted Ribs inside Hull before it was released from Forms. Some Ribs were "Boiled" in certain Ship Yards.

No Alan. The form will be adjusted for the changes in each rib as I go.
