A little bit of insurance against cracking the crossflow head. Fitted up an electric pump in the pick up line. It's all tucked away under the seat. I've never been a fan of having to give it the berries to get water flow up as quickly as possible. This should fill the void from idle up until the pick up flows sufficiently on its own at speed.

As I said before you are an ideas person! My hydro has an electric pump option set up so after a few hot laps and returning to trailer off the plane keeps the water flowing for obvious reasons. Mine is set up with a tap because it has two water pick ups, one at the bottom of the rudder and the electric pump pick up off the port (left!) sponson so I need to shut off the rudder with the tap to allow the electric pump to do it’s thing! Great idea after those “hot laps!

Hi Chivs, I'm still running the check valves on both pick ups. I'm hoping the valve after the pump wont effect priming. It's a swing gate check valve, no spring return and no seal, and not totally water/air tight when in the closed position. Fingers crossed there. The pump is also well below water line. The process would be to power it up first and prime engine cooling system before start up, then prime lube and fuel pumps, then hit the tit!
Re: Thunda Babe
Well today is the first day I have managed to actually have the head fitted on the block in the boat. I'm getting a little bit excited.
There's still a fair bit of work to go though.

You made me laugh as I remembered a guy had a stocky FC at the Heyfield Machinery Rally a couple of years ago. It had the top of the cover replaced with a Perspex strip full length. Why, I still don't know.
Re: Thunda Babe
Started knocking up the alloy tube spacers for the rockers. Tedious work hand finishing each one for the correct side clearance for the rockers.
Re: Thunda Babe
No shims Alan. Spacers machined then hand finished to give . 002" end float. It may have to be more depending on how much the alloy grows and how much oil passes for splash.
Re: Thunda Babe
Shouldn't be too hard to do a cold and hot check on the spacer to check growth before fitting, be good to know.
