12 foot simpkin skiff

Postby retroboat » 24 Jun 2019, 09:43

Hi all i picked up a 12 foot simpkin skiff on the weekend.
Its name is hairy and ran a worked corolla engine it was last raced in 1974 driven by noel potts.
The boat needs some work but it should be 95 percent original when its restored.
Nathan.

Love the trailer axle suspension set up too. Can't wait to see this one done.

The trailer is interesting - guess it must have worked ok in the day - I did not know the Corolla engines were used in these boats
I have an ex race (Sports 1300) 3k corolla engine with the basic set up from the formula 3 cars of the 70s ie bored to 1298 forged pistons, this one has Argo rods and I think Ross pistons tho they could be TRD (79mm) its dry sumped and has a twin Weber manifold (no carbs)
I pulled it out of my race car in the late 90s when we trialed a twin cam Suzuki GTi engine in the class - its been in the shed ever since
If your interested in it its yours - but you will have to pick it up
Cheers
