Hi Guys got talking to a local today and as usual it went from old cars to old boats with my interest really sparked with his recollection of a boat from Eildon. The boat was around 18ft,powered by a flat head. In excellent condition with triple cockpits. Two in the front and one aft. Maybe its been spoken of before but it had my interest being clinker in this style.
And clues on it surviving?
Matt
Triple Treat

The only clinker style I know of that fits that sort of description is Sunbeam II. Same cockpit configuration, about 19' and ran a 239 flat head Ford. The boat still exists and is under resto in the ACT. Don't know if it started off in Victoria, but I first saw it in NSW.

Re: Triple Treat
I wonder if its being restored?
Re: Triple Treat
Yep fella's,
she's still undergoing resto, all be it slowly. Its turning into a retirement project.
She was far from excellent condition when i got her,( the photo above was from the 90's).
Borers in the keel planks and zipper type splits along the rove lines on quite a few planks due to someone attempting to stop leaks by grinding out a gap between the lap and filling with epoxy, and when planks needed to swell, the stress transferred to the next weakest point which was along the rove line.
The deck had been laid with plywood veneer teak/beach, from a previous resto, and after being left outside under a tarps etc. weather took its toll with the thin veneers of teak/beach separating from the plywood.
Im keeping the original motor, which needs a full rebuild, with a few more mod cons added.
Some pic below of where she is at.
Matt, if you any further info about the boat, persons name or contact etc it would be greatly appreciated. I thought it come from the Sydney area also, and that John Laws may have owned it, which turned out to be untrue. any
cheers Peter

Re: Triple Treat
Peter I'll show the fella the photos. I talked with him the other day but I didn't realise you'd put the photos up. He said it was definitely a flathead. Matt
Re: Triple Treat
Great looking Flathead , when bolting heads down you need to swap left to right . Water exit should be at highest point of exit.
