I have received from the Gronfors family some additional information that may help.
In 1936 Chips Gronfors built four identical speed boats for Mr Stanley Heaney who owned Newcastle Auto Exchange.
They were 16 ft in length and were fitted with side valve engines mounted amidships.
It states that they were the first side valve engines imported into Australia ?? Maybe some of the rev heads could shed some light on this? :)
They were purchased by the following people.
Miss Auto Kept by Mr Stan Heaney.
Miss Judith Mr Laurie Simpson owner of "Simpson Ship Chandlers. Won the E.C Griffith Cup and held the Australian water speed record in 1937.
Here's Tooee Mr Archie Lee of Newcastle GMH car dealer, McLeod, Kelso and Lee.
Lady Betty Mr Rab Lewis the owner of Cessnock Motors.

Hope this may trigger some memories.

Not necessarily :? Chips built many more boats. It's just that there is few that are documented apart from these boats.
It would be wonderful to find another of Chips's boats and maybe a sibling for Cee Cee.
