Hello my name is Colin Grazules thanks for allowing me to join your forum.
I am searching for power boats built by Ivar (Chips) Gronfors of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.
Chips was prolific builder of power boats from about 1911 till about the 1950's. He was based in Newcastle and Tea Gardens and Marmong Point NSW.
Along with his speed boats, Chips also built hydroplanes in Newcastle in the years after 1945
I have included some photos of his boats including Miss Judith that won the E.C. Griffith Cup in 1937 and a number of boats built for the members of the Newcastle Branch of the Royal Motor Yacht Squadron
I will attempt to attach some pictures but if I fail they are also on my website in Album No 4 " Launch Broadbill and Azile 1911 and many more"
Look forward to your replies.
Thanks again.

Hi Colin and welcome,
You've done an excellent job of documenting your findings so far with your website. I'll watch this thread with interest

Ive got an old boat here named Cee Cee. Ive never know who built it. I wonder if it was by this guy?
Re: Seaching for boats built by Ivar (Chips) Gronfors.
I do not have a boat of that name in my records but you never know.
Meanwhile here is another picture with some more detail that may help.

Can i ask if you know where Cee Cee was built and her length??
Chips and his son Roy built many 14ft runabouts for the employees of BHP. Unfortunatly I have no pictures even though it was said they built a number of them.

Cee Cee is around 18 feet long. Greg might be able to put up a pic of her. I bought it of a guy in QLD many years ago. He said it was built around 1927 and lived on Sydney Harbour. By the way Im not even sure if Cee cee Is her original name.

I've already sent Colin a few pictures of Cee Cee.

What a great piece of history and a remarkable boat builder.
The similarities between Cee Cee and this guys boats is uncanny.
I think you may have a builder Dave
