You have been busy Bob. It's going to look a whole lot better with the cowling on.

Hi all

Just arrived back from Bundaberg at lunch time today. I was invited to be "clerk of the course" for their two day race event which was held over the weekend. This afternoon I ordered a couple of sheets of bendy ply from Mr Plywood to cover the engine cowl. I will start to fit that next week, it will be a fiddly job but like all the other bits of the puzzle it has to be done.

Bootlegger

You're right, it will and the cowlings also mean that it's finished. It's been a long project.

The skin is only screwed on at this stage. Next job is to remove the skin now that it is trimmed to shape and glue and screw it on permanently.

Another fiddly process but its gotta be done.

More progress

Over the weekend I unscrewed the skin off the frame and mixed up some epoxy paste and re screwed and glued it back on. Took a couple of mates to help do that. Since then I have trimmed the edges back to finished state and epoxy filled half of the screw holes and sanded them back. Over the next couple of weeks the remaining screw holes (the screws are countersunk and below the surface) will get filled and sanded, finish some reinforcing around the bottom edges where it will sit on the boat and it's ready to paint.

Hi folks

The cowling is finished and ready to paint. The latching system is fixed to the deck and the latch points on the cowl are in place. I have just picked up the new velocity stack and flame arrester which will go on the carby in place of the air filter which has been on it up until now.

Looking good. I will see about a photo.
