Picked this up yesterday at the local srcappy as it looked marine orientated, can someone identify it as either a water pump or other??

Good pickup , looks like a oil pump . Most water pumps have rubber impellers this one could be metal just like a Auto oil pump. If so you could use it for a dry sump setup.

Thanks Doc, Yeah I pulled it apart and it has two large brass gears in it, oh well might have to run with Hooks suggestion!!!

Gear pump. Used them for jetting sheep/spraying chemicals, good pressure, not affected by chemicals or varying viscosities. Superseded by wonderfully unreliable Chinese *.*.
