New Simpkin

A new 15'-6" hull has arrived at home for a motor, shaft and skeg to be fitted and other work to get it ready for its first launching. This is another time capsule that has surfaced lately in Melbourne.

I don't suppose the boat you have is missing a engine cover and has a holden 6 in it by any chance and has got white vinyl around the cockpits and the boat is black.

Rosco,
If you have to fit the six , it was bought for the motor!
Amazing thing is it would have gone somewhere else if the
Telstra traffic on the penninsula didnt vapourize the phone bids!
True time capsule though, white combings interesting.
Great pick up!

Yes ken, it has a full set up.
Today I have lifted the motor opened up the shaft hole and lined up the shaft and mounted the skeg and fitted the log for now and will fit them properly and seal them when I get some s/s bolts to fit. looking good so far.
Tomorrow I intend to relieve the bridge beam and one engine bearer for clearance around the engine components / exhaust as it is all to close.
I suspect that this hull was never quite finished as I look around it, the rear chine / trim timbers are still loose and not sealed and it looks like the gunwales screws are recessed not plugged but the rear trim is, and the wings are not finished on the outer edges just planed and sealed. My guess is that a metal trim was intended to cover these edges and never done.
