I had a Seacraft magazine article sent to me by Brent Thurley about a 1952 Lewis skiff with a Ford V8 and Arden heads. Maybe this was the first boat to fitted with a capsule. It makes for a good read.
I've put it on the website's Nostalgia page.

An extremely good article , gives a clear idea of how and why things were constructed for hoped continual improvement in performance.

Id love to know if that boat survived. One of my all time favorites.
I have seen some pics of it from behind. Maybe ron hodge had them.

Just found a copy of this magazine in an Antique shop today. Also grabbed a couple other Seacraft mags from 1953, one with Grace Walker in a skiff "Diane II" on the cover & a feature on "Action at Echuca", the other has a feature on the bridge to bridge won by "Kerite"and time trials at Kogarah Bay.

As I remember the boat looked amazing with the shell like "capsules" over the cockpits.
I kept thinking though; What about the huge wind resistance of those shells?
Can't let science get in the way of beauty.....I'm with you Dave, Where is it?
