Well, it seems the news has been getting progressively worse regarding the damage to Pagans engine. The crankshaft is a throw away, bent as well as stress fractures, 2 conrods and caps and it appears some reasonably important bits were left out during the last owners rebuild. The gentleman who is screwing it back together assures me it will be ready for Narrandera but i'm getting Wooden Worry cleaned up and serviced just in case! Ah boats!

Feeling the pain and frustration Ray . My "Narranderra " boat broke a timing Belt on testing. The said timing belt cannot be replaced or sourced anywhere worldwide. So on to plan B ...starter motor problem , not so good leak with small split in hull. Going to plan C and looking at fixing plan B.

Hope Pagan makes it !

Hey Stuart, there's a little white Alfa powered skiff that would be a head turner at Narrandera! It can't be that far from being a goer. Pagan could have a playmate!!!!!! (If it makes it)

Ray . That little skiff is running , however It would not pass scrutineering at a CAWPBA event due to a foreign substance skimmed on the inside of the hull.

Hey Stuart, there is as much wood in your skiff as most timber boats. Don't worry about the outside. Mate would LOVE to see it

Ray / Dave

I think Scimitar pushes the boundaries of the WOODEN only part of the club.

It will go to Goolwa next year, I don't think it has run in anger since it flipped there in '73, the time will also allow me to tidy it up.

It looks like Old Flame will be Narranderra bound so you will still have a skiff to play with

Found out yesterday, that my crank will be ready by Tuesday, with any luck motor will be reassembled and back in Pagan by next weekend. Just hoping nothing else goes wrong, I hate having things out of my control!

Pagan lives!!!!!! Spent the afternoon refitting and tuning the motor, and it sounds strong. The repair list went something like, crank, 2 conrods, timing chain, bearings (mains and conrod) plus gasket sets and oil filters. At least now I know the engine truly has been rebuilt. One thing to come out of all this is the knowledge that I got off lightly, it could have been so much worse. We are now definite starters for Narrandera.
