Yeah Ross, his son was more interested though, thought his neck was going to break as I drove past. Picked it as a Vanguard before i'd even stopped ! The GENTLEMAN who did the rebuild has bit to answer for! Hey Greg, it doesn't take much to keep me happy. I mean 10 min. running and a lazy k to fix the damage, how good does this owning a skiff thing get!!!!!!!

That's the fun of a skiff. I did about ten laps at Narrandera in Cheryl/d on a rebuilt engine for $2500 and then hung a leg out the side and tossed me in the drink but still all good fun

Thanks Greg, looking at the video I think we're on the right track anyway.

By the way, I might have found the source of Pagans magneto. It looks like it came from a vintage Massey Ferguson self propelled header. If that's correct, that would make it quite rare, (and bloody hard to source parts)

Most of these were fixed ADVANCE on timing . Timing would be a critial factor using higher rev range.

Ray put a dizzy in it and get it running well and then play with the maggie on the tested engine to see the difference .
The carbs you have , have a side bowl and I have been told that they are a series 1 , later ones had the bowl under the throat , Early 50's and are hard to find. Used a lot on speedway stuff, Motor bikes - sidecars.

Hi Ross, as it happens I have a brand new dizzy that came with a spare motor I bought, so I may well go down that path. Hoping to have the motor back together next week, it's having a new crank ground up for it.That was a costly test day!!!
