Ray, while it may be very frustrating at the moment you appear to have been lucky enough to obtain an unmolested example from the late 1950/60 period. Being tuned and developed as they were sometimes it may be confusing as to why it is set up in such a manner. Try to seek out people with experience from the time , they are usually older than PAGAN.

A suggestion may be to go to Winton Historics , buy a Pit pass and spend as much time around the 50/60 race cars and there crews. These guys are great people.

Best of luck.

Have been told to look at the condenser - condenser's in or on the maggie as they will give the same symptoms as you are having . running and then failing as they warm up with use .

Finally got around to changing the condenser on the maggie this afternoon and it made an immediate difference to the way Pagan starts, lets just hope that translates to on water running! If no,t next step will be going back to a dizzy. With any luck Taurus will be off tomorrow to get a new bow and transom. So it begins!!

Pulled the motor out of Pagan today with the intention of cleaning up the oil that has leached into the hull around the engine, while i'm at it I want to remove as much of the fibreglass resin that a previous owner poured over the floor (in a vain attempt to stop water leaks). After that i'll turn it over and revarnish the hull, as most of the varnish underneath is gone! Added a mark for top dead centre to the flywheel as well so setting the timing will be easier in the future. Not planning on making any changes to the way things are, just doing some general house keeping. Will keep you informed.

Well, Pagan is off the trailer and upside down, with the intention of doing a general clean up of the underside of the hull. First observations are that it has had a few repairs over the years but they appear to have been well done and no major repairs are needed. I will have a good look around the keel as this seems to be the source of the leaking when I fill the boat with water. While it's apart I will fit a new oil seal into the output side of the V drive.
