The first time i run Pagan that's exactly what it looked like! Soooo much black smoke. We now have a new set of valves fitted, just waiting on two lifters and it will be all go. (maybe)

Well.............. Pagan is back together, and it seems to be purring like a kitten (a very angry kitten) The popping and backfiring has stopped and all 4 pots feel like the're running even. Just need to adjust the idle up a bit and it will be time for another crack at it being a boat. Something that so far has eluded it!

Ray you sure cop a lot of crap about the type of power unit in Pagan , when you research the units use in Road Cars there are some interesting facts available. When installed in the 1960 TR 4 Triumph the car had a top speed of 110 mph. A grey Holden powered Sedan would run 80.4 mph on a good day .
Makes one think about why Pagan got fitted with such a good engine doesn't it.

Good work Ray and top effort chasing down the problem. Trust me, when you stick your boot into it, all the hours & hours of work makes it worthwhile.

Hi all, just back from the car show at Melton Weir. Pagan sparked heaps of interest withmany people stopping for a chat. Towards the end of the day a chap walked past, stopped and had a good look before letting me know that his uncle and father owned and raced it! Does anyone remember a gentleman by the name of Alan Macintosh? Also met a chap from the VSBC who seems to think there is a photo of Pagan on the clubroom wall. The day was really enjoyable and could be a good vehicle for promoting our club, the organisers would love to see a few more boats next year.

Over the years I have taken several boats to cat shows. They are always well received.

It's Pagans turn to go out tomorrow after work, heading down to Pykes creek with Jim Crilley. I'm confident i've got all the bugs ironed out but not that confident to go out without another boat around. Will keep you informed!
