Hi all,

Bit of an update.
I have now completed all of the top deck planking...i will now clean out the seams and fill with a
mix of epoxy with white pigment and talc powder..also need to shape the cover boards to match the back of transom and route out the top rear edge and install corner timber and round off...

Looking really cool...love the attention to detail. What adhesive are you using for the deck ??
Is that West Systems stuff l can see on the bench ??

Nah. Adhesive is FGI (Fiber Glass International, great stuff to use, and the bonus is it is better priced than the than the West system.

Amazing the amount of epoxy that goes into a full build like this, the wife is picking up the final kit i will need for the build today 6kg kit 5 kg of epoxy 1 kg of hardener...5:1 mix. this will be kit number 9 or 10 cant remember.

Have been doing a bit of sanding and trying to figure out what stain to do the cover board and king plank in as there is too much variation in the timber color.

Hi,

Had a play with some stain colors on the weekend. The stain is Minwax water based stain, i have slapped some on at the back of boat to have a look.

I have used the mahogany (Too red for my liking) and the walnut on the cover boards looks dark at first but under the lights at night it looks lighter and also boat will be seen in the sun so color i think will be ok.

I have spread some unmixed talc powder into the seams just to get an idea of what it will look like.

Any thoughts for or against either of these colors? any other suggestions? I need to sort out as i am at the stage of staining so i can move forward with the top decking.
