Ford update

Postby bootlegger » 03 Jul 2012, 18:45

So the latest news on my ford is I ebayed it and it went today for one thousand dollars. I worked on that heap of crap constantly for the last five years. Yesterday the tail light switch went. The third one in twelve months. Today I had to make one ignition barrel out of two as each barrel is matched to the computor in the car.
It was the best grand I ever got. Im so glad its gone.

I hope those sort of gremlins don't carry over into the older ford stuff like my Y block.

I propose to do a strip and check over before I put it in the boat but one can never tell what will be found
at least there are plenty of parts available for these engines.
cheers
Peter

He was realistic about the car. He has another with a blown, trans. He reckons he is going to make a good one out of the pair. I reckon if you had ten you still couldnt make a good one.

I reckon it served you well Dave, a few glitches here and there which were able to be fixed with a bit of ingenuity and bush mechanics. Not to mention a healthy stock of spares in the boot "just in case" :D I've just bought a pristine '98 EL wagon if you're interested????

no thanks hookster. I bought a 1974 international panel truck with 42000miles as the latest family runaround. Ive done so much research on what goes wrong, with late model stuff that ive decided to stay right away from them.
I was at a fuel injection specialist yesterday with a camry I bought to sell. He took one look at it and said these were the last of the cars built to go forever. He had nothing nice to say about any of the current cars.
I guess its whole philosophy of the times im afraid. Forced consumerism.

Ernie Nunn called it Planned Obsolescence back in the 60's
