Bob Halliday put a leyeland P76 V8 onto an outboard leg and ran his boat Super Strangler. Apharently it was bit of a handful. Is this the guy Bob?

A farmer at Loxton in SA had a P76 motor on a OMC lower on the back of his skiboat. Said that it was a cheaper alternate to replacing the OB powerhead. Carb was mounted horizontal on a piece of waterpipe. Seemed to work well.
A bit past the critical angle of the crank though!

Definitely not Bob Halliday (I actually don't think her did what you are suggesting) but you are otherwise close. The right era and the right town (Sydney) and the right speedboat club (St George).

Bingo! Bert Hines it is. The boat didn't race that much and sadly I never saw it run. It wa sreputed to be blistering fast in a straight line but that heavy cast iron powerhead made the boat very delicate in the corners.

Your question Dave.

Who was known as "Scrooge", his first boat a Lewis called "SYLVIA" powered by a 266 cu. Chev. After "SYLVIA" he raced one of the most well known boat racing in the 60's.
