He also had a stepper. I think it was modified into his first there three pointer.. Do got its name from the ventnor plans that it was built from. The plans said once finished the boat would DO 50mph. He got more than double that out of it in the end.

I think the stepped hydro was called Bearcat as it had a stutz V8 cut down to a V4 if my memory is correct and I have a photo of this boat in my old computer and I am sure Greg has a copy. I also believe this was the boat he bolted what looked like painters planks to act as sponsons. Do was built by Ernie and his son Bill and had been powered by ford 10, V8 ^60 and the last time I saw it a V12 supercharged Ferrari 1.5 litre was sitting in it but not running

Keith
I used to have the stuff you're referring to, but it disappeared 3 or 4 computer crashes ago. I remember writing up a bit of the history (ripped out of one of the old boating magazines) that was written up in one of the really early Hollow Logs.

Here are a couple of photos of Do. At the time it had the V12 sitting in it. Have also added a photo of the V12. Do is still in the same condition as shown in the photo, but now has a V8/60 back in it. Incidentally, the V12, which was hand built by Fred Foster (Fred raced Skiffs called Fossy) bears a close resemblance to a certain brand of Italian V12, mainly because Fred and Ernie Nunn were great mates. Note the starter motor on the V12 ..... yes, it's that pulley with the wire wrapped 'round it. Fred thought that starters and big batteries were too heavy, so it has a pull start. It's a shame that you can't see the Distributors in this photo. Fred could make anything out of metal, but the Distributor caps had him stuffed. He had a mate thas was an Orthodontist ............ guess what colour the Distributor Caps are ????
