Definite Honorable mention Sunbeam.
Kid Rock sipping whisky with Pamela in the wooden boat.
There's no way those would fit into our cockpits.
Especially with Dave P sounding the horn like Tommy Lee!
But I'm a Lynyrd Skynyrd fan and I feel that song was a rip off.

I'm giving it to Dave 88
He's so close.
Stringbank Distillery in Whiskeyland uses boat skin Larch for there washbacks in fermentation.
This timber is used in boat building in traditional methods in the old country. (similar to Kauri)
Stringbank is a real woody drop! mmmmmm

Now those who remember Narrandera 2008.... "What a night!"
And those responsible for drinking a bottle of 16 year old Dimple in 7 minutes....Shame
Darren
Dave 88 you're it

Man I was way off. I thought you were talking about the skiff Whiskey in the National Maritime Museum.

Hmm not bad... But including Kid Rock in the video really spoilt it for me ;)

As for the question!

What decade was the three point hydroplane born in?

Although there is some argument in the 1930's Arno Apel designed the Ventnor three pointer although they dragged their tail.
It has been also claimed that Earnie Nunn was the first when he put two water skis on either side of his first stepped hydro Wasp. It was the 30's also.
The first patent for a stepped hydroplane was submitted in the late 1800's by of all things a reverand even though there were no powerplants around powerful enough to make them work. The French soon worked them out on these small steppers called Hydroglisures (spelling) they were little tiny things that did about 30mph.

Gees you blokes  ....I better not get a question right...otherwise I'm gonna have to start researching a bit more deeply than just watching music videos and reading the Hollowlog. ;) ya's have set the benchmark pretty high :geek:
And ur right Darren, Kid Rock did cop some sh.. for the rip off of Lynard Skynard.

Dave's hit the nail on the head!

That's interesting to read about Earnie Nunn using the ski's alongside the stepped hydro too

Bring on a question Dave

We all know that Spirit Of Australia holds the outright Worlds Waterspeed record. But what Aussie boat was the first to break a Worlds water speed record?

Just having a stab in the dark, but it wasn't one of the Bluebird's was it?
Set a record here, but, I'm guessing that doesn't make it an Aussie boat as such

Wouldn't have anything to DO with a little hydro would it?

The Hydro Do was the first but another boat beat its speed the same day therefore taking the official record. Keep guessing
