Next job is to make and fit new ceiling boards. There are three boards per side which fit to the cockpit sides running fore and aft. It's a weird name and I can only assume that they are literally the size of ceiling boards in a house. The old boards form the pattern and it is times like now that I'm glad that I labelled everything when I pulled Nirvana apart. The boards are each about 6mm x 150mm x 2400 mm and need to be screwed against the side frames with 1.5 mm gap for ventilation. The red battens in the photo go inside the boards for strength and are unseen. Once the ceiling boards are fitted the seat structures can be made.

Progressing there well Bob. I'm the same with saving everything for templates on the Seacraft, especially when you have breaks away from working on them. I can't rely on my memory anymore.

First post on Nirvana since Oct last year which reflects the level of activity on the resto over the interveneing months. Slack I know so don't bother reinforcing it. Two of the three starboard ceiling boards are shaped and fitted, the ends need to be docked when I can get a line through all three. Also the instruments have been packed up & shipped off to Kocian Instruments in the USA for evaluation and refurbishment. They will look great but at what cost, I wonder?

Any progress is good progress Bob.
Did you try Howard Instruments in Heidelberg? I've used them quite a few times and I can't fault them.

No I did not think of them. The guys in the US specialise in this classic stuff. Mine are pretty far gone cosmetically... well faded dial faces. No idea if they actually work or not.
