Polymer (plastic) Nails Rather Than Silicone Bronze

I'm now in the process of building my 3rd wooden powerboat hull and had previously used BoteCote and steel staples in a pneumatic gun to apply my 6 metre long x 30mm wide mahogany lamination strips. This was a tedious process, particularly removing the staples afterwards and filling the holes they l...

Re: Meranti

Hi folks. I needed 4 x 6 metre long planks of blemish free meranti to rip into strips to laminate my Crackerbox hull and sourced them from Tile Importers in Oakleigh. They have a huge range of merchandise grade timber there. Only cost me $360 24 months ago. It took hand rubbed spirit based stain per...

Re: Velvet Drive Bellhousing for a Holden 253 304 or 308

In the end, I was able to buy a new Mercruiser counter clockwise starter motor in Qld that fits my existing bellhousing bulge and flywheel ring gear.

Re: S/S nails

Hi Alan. I have lots of pictures I can post, but don't have the facility to do it with my current view of this Bulletin Board. I did lots of experiments before I found a technique that enabled the nail heads to sit proud so I could sand them off prior to sanding, staining and varnishing of my mahoga...

Re: S/S nails

Hi folks. This is a really late reply, but I recommend using the RAPTOR polymer nails/brads from the US as an alternative to Silicone Bronze or SS ring nails. Their local agent is in NSW. They'll fit in most brands of pneumatic nail/brad gun, (come in sizes from 3/8" to 2") twice the tensi...

Velvet Drive Bellhousing for a Holden 253 304 or 308

Hi folks. I'm nearly 4 years into my 3rd build of a 16' Glen-L Crackerbox classic American wooden powerboat and have just realised that the unused SBC/BBC bellhousing I bought at the outset won't fit my current Holden 304 V8....the starter motor bulge is in the wrong spot. I'm hoping one of you may ...
