I also agree with you on the metalwork, it doesn't come naturally to me either, I luck in some welds every now and then, but basically they always look "backyardish"

Geez Doc, Some words of wisdom there! Studs work better as the repeat use of threads with bolts can present issues. An inch spacer underneath would be nice. Wow, it's in really good nick Bob considering it's age.
It's funny I did lots of measuring when I pulled Scrubcat apart, I soon realized measurements could be a little "arbitrary"
As Keith Simpkin used to say it was "just so" which translated as done by eye.
