Re: What makes a wooden classic

Hi Brian and welcome. I think the thing with wooden boats is that you have to go with your heart and find someone else to be your head. Find a boat that excites you and then have knowledgeable person along who has absolute right of veto over the purchase. That would be best, or you could just grab t...

Bondwood jet boat

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Vintage-Jet-Ski-Boat-/290672997645?pt=AU_Boats&hash=item43ad75f50d

This was for sale a couple of months ago and went for less than $1000. Now it's back and more expensive. Just goes to show that jet boats are a great investment

Re: Jet Boat from Mt Gambier

Well at last I can answer some questions as I finally got to take the boat out. Firstly even though it is impossible the water must have gotten into the oil through the exhaust manifold. I took it around lake eppalock today and the oil looks as clean as a whistle. Thank you so much for the manifold ...

Re: Ballarat swap

Hi Ross, Looking forward to catching up. I was sort of thinking of taking the boat to Lake Learmonth on the Friday straight from work and camping there for the weekend. Heading in Ballarat for the swap meet on Saturday and then spending Sunday on the lake. I did this last year and it made for a grea...

Re: our project

Good luck Peter. And thanks for keeping us updated on your progress. I share some of your frustration. Every time I go out and work on Grumpy it looks less like a boat than when I started. I can't wait for the time when I screw somthing ON
Keep at it

Re: Little skiff

Hi Ross,
I would love ot come over and see what you are doing one day if that would be possible. I am a long way off doing the deck of Grumpy but I need to learn a lot between now and then. If you want someone to hold things and bring you cold beers just give me a call on 54232335.
Cheers

Re: Oil in boat

Thanks for the reply Brian. I don't think that I'm quite ready to re rove :? the boat so I will just settle for a lesser finish 8-) . It will just get covered in oil again.

Re: Oil in boat

Hi Brian, did you get the oil out of the boat in the end and how did you do it. Next job on Grumpy is to try and clean up the inside and I must say it's a bit daunting. Awfully fiddly inside a clinker hull isn't it. What are the best ways to clean out the oil, remove the paint and sand it down. Thre...
