Sorry can't help with a switch , however the Skiff will be period correct without one as it was built several years before that type of "cutout" was required to be fitted.

The old system on most setups was to have a Thrust Bearing bearing fitted between the Log and the Universal fitting on the drive end of Prop shaft when the connection was to go directly to a flange fitted to the end of the Crank Shaft. Single universals can work well if angles are not to severe.

As for "engine blowups" more likely to be caused by drive line Harmonics being transmitted into the crank shaft due to insufficient thrust control.

Great pics from the earlier days, the Runabout "PLAN" was a 266 Class and competed from early to mid 60,s . That picture shown was very likely taken between 1962 and 1965 .

Notice in the Herald Sun today listing the passing of well known "Skiff" driver from the 1960-70,s period , Walter "Wally" Cooper. Wally was well known behind the wheel of his 266 ci Skiff "MISS-CHIF" which he raced most weekends across Victoria. Wally was 88 years old....

DIABLO pictured with John Dent driving with Tom Watts in MISTIC MISS . Diablo was fitted with 289 ford , had the small Lewis Cav plate replaced by a wide Everingham style to assist in trimming the hull.
Was purchased from John Dent by someone based up Northern Victoria .

A quality Regulator will allow adequate flow through for fuel ratio requirements. You can run up to 2 1/2 lbs without any trouble with those carbs.

Great Day for the Club , 60 years and the display of Wooden boats was fantastic to see on the foreshore were 100,s of Wooden race boats have lined up over the years as demonstrated by the many great photos on display in the Club House , raises the question once again , "where are they now"...
