Re: Aussie Belle Isle
I have been playing with stains myself and I don't like the colour the mahogany stain is, it looks too artificial. Maybe try mixing the walnut and mahogany stains ie 90% mahogany 10 % walnut and test it on some scrap timber to see how it looks and just keep playing with different ratios until you fi...

Re: skiff name trivia
G'day Rayza,
I haven't decided on the engine yet, I will keep researching names while I restore the hull and if nothing has come up by then, probably a 350 chev because they are easy to get.
cheers Nathan.

The plywood is now glued on the outside so I can move on to removing the nex...

skiff name trivia
Good evening all, I have short listed some potential names for the mystery skiff through research looking at old racing pictures and the archived hollow log newsletters. Can anyone tell me which of the names are not a 16 foot Lewis skiff, or are accounted for. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ...

Re: mystery skiff restoration
have shaped top plank roughly to its correct shape, it is clamped and hopefully if I leave it a few days it will keep the shape a little before I glue the plywood on it and clamp it back in place. Once the glue dries it should hold its shape and I can do the final shaping.

Re: mystery skiff restoration
I removed the port top plank and I found some of the ribs look like they have been damaged in a collision at some point.
was it common for boats to run into each other racing?.
If they didn't run into each other that often it may help to narrow down a name for the boat.
