Some of the 300 ci Factory Boats out of Gippsland in early 1970,s ran RECORD Props around 11 x 15 to 16 pitches. Bigger Engines called for different gears.

If by bigger you mean a larger diameter forget it.Will raise transom and twist the Hull about more. Your view on changing gearing and using a smaller diameter Prop should see changes. About 11 1/2 should be max diam , 15 1/2 pitch worked well on 300 ci Boats back in the day. Gears changed to match H...

Sounds good , hopefully no damage. 12 mph per 1000 rpm an efficient prop with not too much Slip.

Looks like a very workable Dry Sump System. Make sure the Tank has adequate internal volume and correct baffles to allow all the air to separate from the oil.Many Tanks were made to small creating foaming of the oil.

Fully developed with Repco Cross-flow and injection and Dry sump system.The 149 had Hi-comp Repco pistons ,Webers , 12port head Mallory Ignition ,fully dry sump oiling.
