Re: The Boss

Greg,
I dont know whether its the same guy that had it last time though?
Is it not a plastic bottom timber deck boat?
Not sure of the history either.
Bigger minds than mine may have heard of it in racing circles
I cant remember it.(that dont mean much)
Not 1950's for me. more like 70's

Re: Stripping Paint

The heatgun/scraper method is the only one that has worked for me. It is not a pleasant job I agree. The only sobering thought about soda blasting, is that we are dealing with a natural product, it has different densities from one end of a plank to another especially with deck ply/veneer. So what wo...

Re: Record Holder

There were V drive/rearmounts around in the late 50's.
I have one - strange looking animal though.
Dave in SA also has a gearbox similar to mine...so they are around.
No step up in mine it just gets the engine down the back.

I was saddened to here the news of the passing of Max Shepherd.
I never got to meet him.
I would appreciate any news of the

Re: The Bug - Jones Hydroplane

Andrew,
I cant believe this has not sold either.
A genuine turnkey boat for that money...ridiculous
Alas, my boathouse has emptied my biscuit barrel.
Otherwise it would be in my shed for sure.
If it needs an interstate holiday it can board at my joint!!!
