Lewis paint

What is the paint that was used on the Lewis hulls, being a red - brown it looks to be transparent . Is it clear with a tint in it or is it some thing of the shelf. My smaller boat has the same paint on it

Bob you should sit in the rear seat, the rope normally just clips the rear seat passengers head. around 600mm of the deck I would gess.

Thommo, the problem with this pump is lube between the gears, the metal gears will have constant contact with each other and water is not a lubricant, They will wear on gear tooth surfaces and body surfaces of the housing without lubrication, the other thing with both types of pumps is that they are...

Thommo, the gear pump you have to my understanding is for oil base fluid- cutting oil for lathe or machine type use. I may be wrong but there would be no lube in the pump if used with straight water, that why the pumps used in boats have rubber impeller in them.

The photes show the motor up close to the deck, must be shelow like one or two planks to normal.
